Turf Talk:
- +4m 950m – W/Post, +2m Remainder – Expecting a very fair track overall with tempo likely to dictate races overall.
The Stats That Matter:
- Over the past 90 days Siena Grima is striking at an impressive 33.3% with a positive POT of +58.3%.
- The Richard Litt stable is the one to follow over the past 90 days up to $10SP, striking at 27.3% with a POT of +88.3%. They are effective with runners first, second and third up.
Race 1
It’s hard to go past the strong last start Newcastle winner in (4) Natoya. The 4yo brings smart formlines around the likes of Ruination and Perfect Play, handles the soft and draws beautifully.(8) Highborn Harry brings a smart wet track profile to this race, he’s in peak form and has to go in the mix. The in form (3) Oceanfront rounds out the numbers.
Selections:
(4) Natoya
(8) Highborn Harry
(3) Oceanfront
(11) Horizons
Suggested Bet: Natoya WIN
Race 2
Keen to side with the progressive (1) Petticoat. The talented 4yo mare backed up an impressive Highway win with a run full of merit second up when pestered up front. Back to Highway grade and gets a lovely set-up here with the claim. Keen.
(2) Impendor is the danger — Nash and Matt Dunn team up once again. Impressive recent trials, albeit quietly ridden. Any late market support must be respected.
Todd Howlett has (9) Mic Drop humming along off the back of a long layoff. The query here is the move to a soft track — if we get back to a Good 4, she’s right in this.
(6) Hellinda rounds out the numbers with a solid soft track record.
Selections:
(1) Petticoat
(2) Impendor
(9) Mic Drop
(6) Hellinda
Suggested Bet: Petticoat WIN
Race 3
Very keen to side with the interstate runner (6) Carbonados. The talented but often hard to catch gelding looked exceptional in a recent jump-out. Smart fresh record and maps a treat here first up.
(5) Money Team is the danger — big figure when winning last start and gets a nice set-up here.
(4) Midnight Opal has had the run under his belt as well as a 1000m tick-over trial. He maps perfectly but does have an iffy record at 1200m.
Selections:
(6) Carbonados
(5) Money Team
(4) Midnight Opal
(9) Heuristic
Suggested Bet: Carbonados WIN
Race 4
(10) Lightning Glory was terrific on debut after a bit of an awkward start — looks to have plenty of upside.
(6) Maid Of Moolah is looking for the hat-trick, gets a 2kg claim with Braith Nock in the saddle, expect her to be right in the finish.
(3) Tasoraay resumes off a couple of tidy trials and has a terrific first-up record.
Selections:
(10) Lightning Glory
(6) Maid Of Moolah
(3) Tasoraay
Suggested Bet: No Bet
Race 5
I expect (1) Gringotts to improve significantly off his last start run in the Alan Brown Stakes over 1400m. He was first up off a 5-week freshen when having a setback. Up to 1600m now is key, as is a drying deck.
(3) Tavi Time was doing his best work late in the Alan Brown Stakes, he’s been kept up to the mark with a tick-over trial during the 24-day gap — he’s ready to explode now.
I can’t knock the in form (2) Headley Grange — three wins on the trot but does go up 3kg, which is a concern.
The flying (4) Vivy Air goes in the mix — the wide gate won’t pose any issues from the kind 1600m starting point.
Selections:
(1) Gringotts
(3) Tavi Time
(2) Headley Grange
(4) Vivy Air
Suggested Bet: No Bet
Race 6
Cracking edition of the Barn Dance. I loved the run of (10) Chidiac last start in the Kozi. Peak fitness and gets in light with the claim of Braith, from the draw she should get the run of the race.
(1) Gallant Star maps well from the draw, he has improvement here second up coming off a second in the Kozi — another who gets in light and has to be a key chance.
The drying deck suits (8) So You Pence down to the ground. Any rain is a slight concern, but he’s ready to peak here third up.
(2) Mogo Magic has found form in his two runs this time in, yes, he does rise slightly in class but gets in well at the weights with the claim.
Selections:
(10) Chidiac
(1) Gallant Star
(8) So You Pence
(2) Mogo Magic
Suggested Bet: No Bet
Race 7
(1) Osipenko is the classiest horse in the race, if he’s at his best. Quiet trial between runs leading into this. Mixes his form, but if he can put it all together here, he’ll be hard to beat.
(5) Hollywood Hero has a terrific record over the mile, and with a bit of luck from the wide draw will be right in the finish.
(16) Tavros has been in the money all starts this prep, just keeps racing well. This is harder but deserves to be in the numbers.
(17) Anythink Goes rises to the mile, which looks suitable at this stage of his prep.
Selections:
(1) Osipenko
(5) Hollywood Hero
(16) Tavros
(17) Anythink Goes
Suggested Bet: No Bet
Race 8
(15) Boston Rocks has a terrific record over this trip and races well fourth up. Look for him to be strong late.
(5) Accredited had a promising trial leading into this, has a terrific first-up record and loves racing here.
(9) Imperial Force tired late last start, the drop back to 1100m looks ideal and gets a soft run from the inside gate.
(10) Romeo’s Choice goes in the mix here, first up off a freshen and does have smart first up figures. Handles wet and goes in the mix.
Selections:
(15) Boston Rocks
(5) Accredited
(9) Imperial Force
(9) Imperial Force
Suggested Bet: No Bet
Race 9
(6) Well Timed looks close to a win. Racing well and does have a good record here. Expect Nash to be positive from the gate.
(11) Formal Display rises to 1500m which looks ideal. Drawn well and expect to be prominent in this field.
(2) Kintyre looks to find a more suitable race here, drawn to get a soft run.
(7) Rock Empire goes in the mix, consistent prep but does have a slight query on a heavy deck.
Selections:
(6) Well Timed
(11) Formal Display
(2) Kintyre
(7) Rock Empire
Suggested Bet: No Bet
Race 10
(8) Durova has been in dominant form this preparation with four wins on the trot, nice tick-over trial between runs. Looks well placed here.
(7) Sunrise tired late last start, strips fitter and gets a 2kg claim. Expect a sharp improvement.
(4) Bundeena has shown he runs well fresh, expect a similar performance here.
(10) Zaragoza will eat up the heacy conditions, loves to fire fresh and is suited over 1000m.
Selections:
(8) Durova
(7) Sunrise
(4) Bundeena
(14) Mailata
Suggested Bet: No Bet
