Emerging filly Chains Of Love is in line for a return to black-type company after outclassing a more seasoned field of rivals to win the Highway Handicap at Randwick.

The superbly bred daughter of I Am Invincible out of 2015 Group 1 Thousand Guineas winner Stay With Me is set to head to Victoria for next month’s Listed Creswick Sprint Series Final (1200m) at Flemington before being given a short break to prepare for The Kosciuszko (1200m).

“There is a stakes race for three-year-olds in Melbourne in two weeks down the straight, so that could be a possibility,” winning trainer Paul Messara said.

“Then we’ll probably give her a little let-up and go for the ‘Kosi’.

“I thought she was a Kosciuszko type.”

Chains Of Love was having just her fifth start in Saturday’s Highway Handicap (1200m) after finishing midfield in the Listed Queensland Day Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm at her previous appearance.

Messara said she was still learning, but did a great job to overcome a wide draw at Randwick, praising jockey Aaron Bullock for his ride.

“He put her in a position to win the race, and she was too good late,” Messara said.

“She’s still learning her craft, but she’s progressive.”

Messara also confirmed juvenile Cormier was enjoying a break after his excellent second to Tron Bolt in the J J Atkins Stakes (1600m) in Brisbane last weekend and would be set for an ambitious spring.

“He’s great. He’s having a little break, and he will be back for a Golden Rose ‘prep’,” he said.
