At this stage, Aeliana has become the punters’ choice for the Cox Plate. The two biggest win bets with TAB have landed on her ahead of a huge Saturday of racing at Flemington and Randwick.
The best of TAB’s Cox Plate bets was $6,000 on Aeliana at $5 to win. A second bet of $2,300 at $4.50 in the All In market took her total in big bets past $8,000.
Place punters have also been out in force. One TAB customer put $4,000 on Cosmic Crusader at $2.70 for a place, and another put $3,520 on Birdman at $3.30 for a place.
All that said, any of Aeliana, Sir Delius or Warwoven could easily start favourite as betting activity no doubt increases over the next 24 hours.
Futures backers already ahead of the market
Some punters got in early. Futures bets include $2,500 on Sir Delius at $4.50, $2,000 on Warwoven at $6 and $2,000 on Cosmic Crusader at $10. Cosmic Crusader is now as short as $7.50. Warwoven also took another $3,000 at $4.50 in the All In market earlier in the week.
