Heat 2 – Won by Unflinching

Good heat featuring Mornington Glory and Geegees Mistruth.

Unflinching won the heat. He’s as good a trial horse as there is in the state, so nothing out of the ordinary for him.

Mornington Glory worked home nicely late. First jump-out of the campaign – might need another before resuming.

All eyes were on Geegees Mistruth at barrier rise after she took no part in the Oakleigh Plate. She jumped moderately, but that’s not unusual for her.

No blackbooker, per se, but a nice heat.

Heat 4 – Blackbooking Empire Song (1st) and I’mateez (4th)

Empire Song always trialed well but he’s also only had two starts and is a horse with upside. He showed his customary early speed before posting strong time under his own steam. The form out of his Yarra Valley maiden win last campaign has been strong.

I’mateez moved to the line nicely. Talented 3yo with Alex Rae who can do some damage off his 62-rating. May need another jump-out before returning, but looks in excellent order.

Heat 5 – Blackbooking Auxiiary (1st)

Fast horse, so he’s easy to like in jump-outs. But he’s also a lightly-raced 5yo with good ability. Jumped well and mustered speed so quickly that he was 3L in front after they’d gone 100m. Given a reasonably solid trial but ran time to match. Can work his was through the grades.

Heat 6 – Blackbooking Cabaret Queen (2nd)

Tres Magnifique went very well in winning this heat. She’s a filly who was tried in Stakes races in spring and based off this work she has come back very well.

Liked how Cabaret Queen worked to the line alongside Tres Magnifique. She wasn’t overly tested in running second and she’s now jumped-out nicely twice this campaign. Won’t be a maiden for long.

Heat 13 – Blackbook Baywatch (4th)

Time was just fair but liked the way this mare worked to the lien. Had an opinion of her prior to debuting last campaign and whilst she didn’t fire on debut she quickly broke her maiden at her second start. Has had a nice preparation this time in and looks ready to get back to the races now.
