The 2026 Crown Oaks was dominated by Proxime Dea who sat deep throughout before belting her rivals.
But, what did the beaten jockeys have to say? Read all the comments below.
Ethan Brown (Icelady)
“I think she just tired after having a tough run the other day. She stuck on well enough. That may see her out for the prep. She’ll furnish into a nice enough mare. Pass mark.”
Jye McNeil (Quick Finish)
“They poured the pressure on from a long way out. Unfortunately she just didn’t back up today. Super proud of her preparation.”
James McDonald (De Armas)
“Super. I was so proud of her. She looked the winner and was outstayed, that’s all. She’s had a fantastic campaign.”
Declan Bates (Voynichese)
“She did ok but didn’t quite see out the distance.”
Rachel King (Salann)
“Really brave effort. She did everything right early. She’s really matured this preparation and I think her best distance is going to be a touch shorter than this.”
Craig Williams (Churchill Rose)
“We got into a nice position and the pace came into the race. We had a discussion after the other day whether we leave the blinkers on and we took them off. She was very keen for two furlongs in a slow, moderately run race. Had the winner outside of us from the 1000m but she is not effective at longer distances against this quality of horse. Interesting to see when she comes back whether she matures, strengthens and becomes an Oaks type of filly. I reckon so far she is very tough and shows great constitution at 1000m.”
Proxima PERFECT! Proxima Dea keeps her unbeaten record intact and wins the G1 Crown Oaks in fine fashion! 🤩
Billy Egan (Notified)
“She ran pretty good. It was an honest effort. I reckon she’ll mature a little more and be a better stayer next time.”
Ben Melham (Nikitria)
“We made a blue putting blinkers on and she pulled relentlessly.”
Damian Lane (Tharwa)
“She ran well despite her finishing position. She had to concede a lot of ground early. She made a good run between the 600 and the 300 but she just didn’t have the stamina to keep finding the line.”
William Pike (Shameful Impulse)
“She did a really good job. She gave some good sight at the top of the straight. She loomed into it. Found one better on the day but she did a great job.”
Jamie Mott (Quynh)
“I thought she ran fantastic. She was on the outsider of the field. I thought we’d run fourth but she peaked that last bit. Great run.”
Linda Meech (Little Ally Bama)
“She probably wasn’t quite up to them.”
