Rosehill, October 2

Nobler – Chris Waller (James McDonald)
Rosehill H2, 1030m | October 2

Second Australian prep for this German import and boy does he look to have come back well. 17 weeks off the scene and was having his second trial for the prep here. He cruised into it under a tight grip before ripping home strongly over the final 100m. Love his piece of work and he looks on track for a very progressive prep.

Perisher – Ciaron Maher (James McDonald)
Rosehill H2, 1030m | October 2

Irish import for the Maher team, ultra-impressive debut trial here in Aus. 1200m heat and did take some winding up but once he found his action he exploded through the middle of the field, racing away impressively. Looks to have a future here.

Cucina – Chris Waller (James McDonald)
Rosehill H8, 900m | October 2

Stylish 3yo filly who has taken time to mature, very well bred and I loved her first trial for the prep here over the 900m. She sat poised on the fence before sliding off the leader’s back and savaging the line. Keen to see her again.

Randwick, October 6

Testamapatience – Peter Snowden (Tommy Berry)
Randwick H6, 1050m | October 6

Cracking second trial by this impressive 3yo filly. Loved the way she kept herself together in the latest over 1050m before rocketing away strongly past the line. She screams talent. Lightly framed filly too, so any wet track wouldn’t pose issues. Keen to see her at the races.

Spirit Bomb – Michael Freedman (Tommy Berry)
Randwick H6, 1050m | October 6

Outstanding debut trial by this 3yo gelding, he looks a jet. He sat back in this trial before punching a gap between runners and savaging the line in second gear. Strength through the line and looked fabulous physically. Has a future.

Overleap – Ron Quinton (Matt Kirk)
Randwick H10, 740m | October 6

$320k MM purchase. Extremely well bred and a full brother to Bews. Debut 2yo trial and he looked professional. Lovely quick action and extended away beautifully from his rivals. Ready to go to the races off this, smart trial.

Setesdal – Matt Smith (Kerrin McEvoy)
Randwick H11, 740m | October 6

Not your typical trial but he impressed nonetheless. He was dragged back to a clear last and held on a tight leash by McEvoy. Similar story in the straight until the 100m when he was asked to pick up the bridle. He did that and rocketed to the line before working strongly through the line. Impressive, has a big future.

Home And Dry – Michael Freedman (Tommy Berry)
Randwick H12, 740m | October 6

Proper filly this, loved her in her first trial prep. 38 weeks off and looks to have furnished beautifully into the prep. She has strong tactical speed and is built like a beast. She idled up to her rivals after cornering wide and looked gorgeous in her action. Keen to see her second trial now.

Barossa – Bjorn Baker (Kerrin McEvoy)
Randwick H12, 740m | October 6

Same heat as Home And Dry, this 3yo gelding made up swift ground back towards the inferior inside going. Loved the way he picked up and hit the line. McEvoy tried to pull him up on the line but he charged past the post. Look for a second trial now.

Stonecrest – Waterhouse & Bott (Tim Clark)
Randwick H14, 740m | October 6

Smart enough overall time and a very impressive piece of work by this unraced 3yo colt. He sat off his stablemate before going two to his one late in this trial to run over the top late and through the line. Loved the look of him and his action. Look for a second trial now.

Magic Blaze – Jim & Greg Lee (Deon Le Roux)
Randwick H14, 740m | October 6

Same heat as Stonecrest. Another who closed off impressively, albeit down the best part of the track. Look for a second trial now to confirm.
