Dean Watling thinks a daughter of Home Affairs can take out this year's Golden Slipper

Deano’s Crystal Ball – Golden Slipper futures play

The Golden Slipper is a couple of months away but Dean Watling has spied a filly he's keen to back in futures markets.

It’s that time of year again where we look to predict the future by building a futures book for the 2026 Golden Slipper. As hard as it is, there’s nothing more satisfying than chiming into a 2YO at big odds off the trials and getting to Slipper Day with a live ticket.

The first horse we’re adding to this year’s book is the 2YO filly:

MISS SCANDAL (HOME AFFAIRS x KYLIE’S FAME) – Chris Waller

A NZ$320k purchase from the New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale, she wears the Ritchies Racing silks, which have become increasingly popular over the past year, highlighted by Autumn Boy’s G1 Caulfield Guineas win.

Her first public trial came on January 2 over 900m. She bounced to the front with ease, leading the trial before matching motors with the G3 Gimcrack winner Incognito. Through the line she extended away sharply.

Miss Scandal then stepped out for her second trial over 900m on January 12, with James McDonald staying in the saddle, and this was equally impressive. This time she was asked to sit in behind the speed, over-racing slightly before being hard held on the bridle for the entire straight. What I liked most was her extension through the line once again, rocketing away late.

Right stable, right jockey, and currently $26 on bet365. Happy to take that.
