Heat 2 – 2YO – Catchweight – 800m (47.47)

1st – 2y g CAESAR’S PALACE trained by K Rae

2nd – 2y f STROMLINIEN trained by A Forsman

3rd – 2y f MALIKIA trained by S Marsh

Summary: “Impressive debut winner STROMLINIEN found the pace too hot in the Karaka Millions at start two and subsequently spelled. A nice trial upon return stalking the speed from a midfield position and loomed up ominously down the outside when kept on the bridle, a promising filly with more wins in store.”

Horses To Follow: 2y f STROMLINIEN

Heat 5 – 2YO – Catchweight – 800m (47.57)

1st – 2y f SHALABIYA trained by D Walker & A Tata

2nd – 2y g ADMIRAL VOS trained by T Pike

3rd – 2y c ACE STRIKE trained by J Mahoney

Summary: “Excellent first trial from the filly SHALABIYA a half-sister to stable star and G1 winner CROCETTI. Sitting wide on the track, the daughter of Brazen Beau chimed in quickly at the top of the straight and was never let go doing it all within herself to the line. Pay to follow her progress.”

Horse To Follow: 2y f SHALABIYA

Heat 6 – 2YO – Catchweight – 800m (49.20)

1st – 2y g JOHNNY FITZ trained by S Nolan & H Orting

2nd – 2y f ACANTHUS trained by K & B Kelso

3rd – 2y f WAHINE TOA trained by D Walker & A Tata

Summary: “The well-bred ACANTHUS is in good hands and was impressive at her first outing when not pushed out to pick up the winner JOHNNY FITZ in this heat. The half-sister to Australian Guineas winner FEROCE travelled under a light ride in the straight quickening up the final 100m to finish 2nd and looks to have some of the family’s ability at this early stage despite the slow time recorded.”

Horse To Follow:  2y f ACANTHUS

Heat 11 – 2YO – Catchweight – 1100m (1.08.67)

1st – 2y c HORIZON PATCH trained by C Cameron

2nd – 2y g COMETOTHECOTTAGE trained by Ramsay & Ritchie

3rd – 2y f HAWEA trained by Richardson & Norvall

Summary: “Zoustar colt HORIZON PATCH continues to build his reputation at the trials, the sale-topping buy out of the Ready-To-Run Sale was a touch green in the straight and a handful for his young rider before running away from the field late in a trial that lacked any real pressure.”

Horse To Follow: 2y c HORIZON PATCH

Heat 14 – 2YO – Catchweight – 1100m (1.08.50)

1st – 2y g SPELLBOUND trained by James & Wellwood

2nd – 2y f SCORCHED FEATHERS trained by G Old

3rd – 2y f LOFTY WIND trained by D Logan

Summary: “The winning margin was slightly misleading relative to the time recorded for this heat. Still, it was the way SPELLBOUND put paid to his rivals in this trial that should give connections confidence as he was eased down the last 100m and appears to have improved over the break as his breeding suggests he would. The addition of blinkers late last prep have also been a positive.”

Horse To Follow: 2y g SPELLBOUND
