Zac Lloyd didn’t need any reminders of what went wrong on Flying For Fun in the Robert Sangster Stakes, but the jockey cam has given him inspiration to right the group 1 wrong next Saturday.
Flying For Fun flashed late, after a checked passage, for fourth in Geegees Mistruth’s Sangster, but Lloyd is drawing confidence from it, rather than dwelling on the bad luck.
“It was sick,” Lloyd said. “Everyone can see what happened and what would have happened if we got a clear run.
“She is a very good mare and we get another chance next week in the Goodwood.
“She had a lot left in the tank.”
Flying For Fun has been made a $6 equal Goodwod favourite with Rey Magneiro and Extragalactic after having no luck at her past two runs, since winning the Maurice McCarten Stakes first-up.
In the Sapphire Stakes, she never got closer than four from the fence and faded late, before her Sangster tale of woe.
“If she gets the right luck she is going to win a very nice race,” Lloyd said. “She was going to explode late the other day and we just couldn’t find a run.
“It leaves something there for the Goodwood, where she gets in very well at the weights.
“It is one I want to put right.”
Lloyd has had his best season, highlighted by winning the Golden Slipper, one of three Group 1 victories for the 22-year-old.
He will head to Royal Ascot and the Durban July in the next couple of months as he becomes increasingly in demand internationally.
