Flying mare Skybird will head into Friday’s Manikato Stakes with her next start confirmed after she was put into the Inglis slot for next month’s Everest.
The Exosphere five-year-old, who is a $110,000 graduate of the Inglis Classic Sale, is already a $1.3 million earner after winning the Lightning Stakes down the Flemington straight in the autumn.
Mitch Freedman was delighted to receive the call-up with a sprinter who has her best ahead of her.
“She is this massive ball of muscle with this presence about her,” Freedman said.
“She has got attitude and sass and she is the queen of the stable but she really harnesses that energy and saves it for raceday.
“It is an honour to take up the Inglis slot and is really a dream come true.”
Inglis chief executive Sebastian Hutch said in announcing Skybird, she will join five other Inglis graduates in the $20 million sprint at Randwick on October 18.
It comes hot on the heels of James Harron choosing Angel Capital for his slot and the arrival of Hong Kong superstar Ka Ying Rising in Sydney this week.
It leaves only three slots open for the Everest with Colmore and Godolphin likely to make their decisions after the weekend, where they have Wodeton and Tempted running in the Golden Rose.
Mulberry Racing has to make a call on which horse it will put into the Everest.
