Always a carnival I have loved and went to for about a dozen years. It is a fair track and although I feel Racing NSW have let this carnival die slowly over the last 10 years, it’s still interesting. (I’d love to see extra funding to these country carnivals instead of made up races).
(16) My Mum’s Toyboy is the X factor. Nearly the lowest rated horse in the race but well and truly on the way up. He has won 10 of 18 and the two wins this prep with 62kg have been dominant. Drops a whopping 8kg here although not ideal under the conditions. Might be very good.
I am leaning the way of a two bet play (6) Band Of Brothers $6.50 and (9) Manolo Bling $16/$4. (6) Band Of Brothers is just as consistent as they come as seen by his race record (19:4:4:4). First up over 1200m he was a nose 2nd in Listed grade and last start over 1400m they led and went very hard up front. Back to 1200m, rock hard fit off that run and a gate to sit on the leaders backs are all positives.
(9) Manolo Bling is a mare I have never been in the corner of. It’s simply impossible to ignore her form this time in work, and a mare in form is always worth following. She has had the best or 2nd best L200m split in her last three races. Runner up in all three behind Niafah, Silver Wedding and Flying Destiny. All those horses are airborne and she was awesome last start over 1200m. The price looks very inviting to me.
Those playing exotics can consider a few others. (4) Perielle is a very good one but just doesn’t win. Gets every possible chance from the gate and with speed on. (3) Givemethebeatboys has ability and savaged the line late last start. Plenty of other chances in a very open race.
