It was a warm day with little breeze in Brisbane on Saturday for racing at Doomben. It certainly didn’t hurt to be on speed as they were running some time, but still feel the track played pretty well overall.
Race 2 – READY TO SCHIPP: Just got to love these good on speed horse who give a kick off any tempo. This horse promised a lot in initial preps but has come of age this time in work. Feel he might just keep improving into this prep and the next.
Race 6 – KICKUP ROCKY: Liked this debut and ran well to finish 4th. Got a long way back and savaged the line late. Worth noting it was specked late in betting $61-$31 as well. Not sure what’s around for a horse like this but looks as though a big track and possibly 1400m would be suitable in a run or two’s time.
Race 10 – JOHN DORY: Beaten fair and square but the run was good and feel he has more upside than these locals. He travels well in the run and doesn’t mind a fight but might just be a horse that needs some head gear to find his best. Whatever the horse needs, this stable will get it right and if he stays in Qld he can win next time out.
