Heat 3 – 2YO – Catchweight – 1000m (1.02.43)

1st – 2y g FORTUNATO trained by G Lowry & L Zydenbos

2nd – 2y g STORMCUTTER trained by G Lowry & L Zydenbos

3rd – 2y f EVENSONG trained by G Lowry & L Zydenbos

Summary: “Per Incanto gelding FORTUNATO was all at sea when the gates opened and walked out, the rest of his trial was impressive! Tacking onto the field and slipping up the inside to win the heat, if he can clean up his starts then a winning debut beckons.”

Horses To Follow: 2y g FORTUNATO

Heat 6 – MDN – Catchweight – 1000m (1.01.78)

1st – 4y g WILL trained by Lowry & Zydenbos

2nd – 3y g CAME TRUE trained by C Bambry

3rd – 3y f CHIME trained by Lowry & Zydenbos

Summary: “Fast trial and another impressive trial win from a horse having it’s first trial. WILL a 4YO gelding by Rock ‘N’ Pop showed that he could measure up on debut sitting behind the good speed and was able to take the inside running and dart through. The stablemate CHIME also made an impression coming from the back into 3rd. Both can be followed to race-day.”

Horse To Follow: 4y g WILL

TE AWAMATU TRIALS (Soft 6) 28/04

Heat 10 – 2YO – Catchweight – 850m (51.90)

1st – 2y f POUNCE trained by O’Sullivan & Scott

2nd – 2y g EL AYE trained by P & S McKay

3rd – 2y f ACANTHUS trained by K & B Kelso

Summary: “Almanzor filly POUNCE is a natural 2YO who was disappointing on debut at Ellerslie when receiving a wicked market drift. Put on speed in her return trial and showing an ability to quicken winning in slick time, a repeat on race-day means a win is near.”

Horse To Follow:  2y f POUNCE

Heat 13 – 2YO – Catchweight – 850m (53.87)

1st – 2y g QUANTUM DRAGON trained by T Pike

2nd – 2y f ILLICIT ESSENCE trained by Walker & Bergerson

3rd – 2y f DARLING trained by S Marsh

Summary: “Excellent first trial from the Trapeze Artist gelding QUANTUM DRAGON, a $260k yearling buy in Australia, settled off the speed and chimed in quickly on one rein under Michael McNab, he looks to have a bright future, possibly in Hong Kong after this performance.”

Horse To Follow: 2y g QUANTUM DRAGON

Heat 16 – 2YO – Catchweight – 850m (52.57)

1st – 2y f RHYTHM IN TIME trained by Richardson & Norvall

2nd – 2y g CLASSIC WATCH trained by B & R Foote

3rd – 2y f HOULIHAN trained by O’Sullivan & Scott

Summary: “Impressive trial from the front pairing running a good time in the process. RHYTHM IN TIME held a strong gallop throughout and was on the bridle in doing so, CLASSIC WATCH was under more pressure to respond, a little green and should improve on the experience, they gapped 3rd. Keen to follow both towards a race-day debut.”

Horse To Follow: 2y f RHYTHM IN TIME & 2y g CLASSIC WATCH
