Brad Hazzard has extended the “Have Your Say” consultation period for his independent inquiry into the Thoroughbred Racing Act 1996 by two weeks.
The review into Racing NSW has been taking evidence from industry participants for the past month and will extend the public feedback period until December 8.
It’s come a week after the evidence presented by NSW Trainers’ Association found its way back to Racing NSW within 24 hours of it being given.
It led to the fallout between NSWTA chairman Richard Pegum and Racing NSW boss Peter V’landys because of an ugly text from the latter.
The review wants to get a broad range of opinions on how Racing NSW fulfils its obligations under the Thoroughbred Racing Act.
Meanwhile, Racing NSW’s board will meet with the four members of the Australian Turf Club and its acting chief executive Steve McMahon as part of the show cause proceedings to explain why the club shouldn’t be put into administration.
Racing NSW board member Kevin Greene will not be part of the meeting after he declared a conflict of interest because of his long term friendship with McMahon.
The acting ATC chief executive worked as an advisor to Greene when he was Racing Minister.
