The race fall that left Tom Prebble a paraplegic has been ruled a racing incident, with a Racing Victoria investigation finding no other riders were at fault.
Prebble suffered a devastating spinal cord injury and hasn’t had feeling or movement below his rib cage after his mount Pulveriser fell in a race at Warrnambool in early September.
Stewards took evidence from Jake Noonan, Jarrod Fry and Jordyn Wetherley on the day, along with Pulveriser’s trainer Andrew Bobbin.
They also examined the racing surface where the incident occurred and conducted full veterinary testing on Pulveriser to determine whether any pre-existing injury or treatment had contributed in any way to the incident.
Further evidence was taken from Bobbin and Will Gordon, who rode Pulveriser at his previous start.
Prebble, who has been lauded for his positive attitude in several recent media interviews, was interviewed by stewards recently.
Based on the evidence presented, stewards determined that no rider was at fault and that there was no pre-existing condition that caused Pulveriser to fall near the 700m.
The inquiry was concluded without any charges being laid.
A GoFundMe page for Prebble and his recovery has so far raised more than $560,000.
