The world’s best jockey James McDonald will head to Melbourne for Memsie Stakes day, but doesn’t know what he will ride in the 1400m Group 1.
McDonald started the Group 1 season winning the Winx Stakes on Autumn Glow on the weekend and could ride Autumn Boy or Angel Capital at Caulfield on Saturday.
He will take a couple of rides for the Waller stable during the afternoon. It will have a big hand in the Group 1 with Beiwacht, Nash Rawiller to ride, Birdman and Buckaroo to run in the Memsie.
“Looking forward to getting to Melbourne for another Group 1,” McDonald said. “I’ll talk to Chris and find out what he wants me to ride, but whatever it is it will be a good chance.”
Ciaron Maher-trained Jimmystar is the $3.50 Memsie favourite after a couple of impressive barrier trials in Sydney in front of Lawrence Stakes winner Cosmic Crusader and Angel Capital at $4.50 with Beiwacht $6.
The star-studded field will include Treasurethe Moment, Mr Brightside, Tom Kitten and Another Wil, which won the Orr Stakes over the course in the autumn
