Trainer John O’Shea has returned to a training partnership with Tom Charlton after finishing his four-month improper conduct disqualification on Friday.
O’Shea met with the licensing committee earlier this week, and his return was approved at the Racing NSW board meeting on Wednesday.
O’Shea didn’t wish to comment when contacted on Friday, preferring to quietly return to training with Charlton, who have Forest King and Roselyn’s Star running at Rosehill on Saturday.
Roselyn’s Star has been a star at barrier trials in the past month, winning his first trial before spearing through late to run second to the speedy Way To The Stars more recently.
“We have been looking for a 1100m race for him to start his campaign,” Charlton said. “He is going really well, but we thought that the 1100m would be better for him than 1200m first-up at this point.”
Roselyn’s Star finished his last campaign by winning at Group 3 level in the Star Kingdom Stakes in March and is up at the right time for the early sprints in the new season.
He is a $3.30 favourite, after the scratching of Ice Kool, for his return to racing.
Two-year-old Forest King is another progressive horse for the stable, which won at big odds on debut before being down the track in the Pago Pago Stakes in the autumn.
“He is not the biggest horse, but he continues to improve. It will be interesting what level he can get to this time in,” Charlton said.
