Ka Ying Rising, the world’s top-rated horse, further underlined his Everest credentials with a dominant return at Sha Tin on Sunday.
Ridden by Zac Purton for master trainer David Hayes, the star sprinter sent an ominous warning to his rivals, cruising to victory in the Class 1 HKSAR Chief Executive’s Cup Handicap (1200m) with plenty in hand.
Settling outside the leader, Ka Ying Rising ambled up on the turn before quickly putting a space on his opposition. Purton was kind to the gelding over the final furlong, yet he still held a commanding margin over Lucky Sweynesse, who chased bravely into second.
The victory was the 14th from just 16 career starts, cementing his place atop the world rankings and confirming his status as Hong Kong’s new sprint king.
Ka Ying Rising now turns his focus to Sydney, where he will contest The Everest in the Australian Turf Club’s slot. Already the clear favourite, he dominates markets at $1.75 with Bet365.
