Rising jockey Lachlan Neindorf has been handed a heavy suspension after being charged with careless riding on Friday.
Neindorf, who relocated to Victoria from South Australia in 2025, is a two-time Group 1 winner and started to make an impact since his move.
The 24 year-old, however, now faces a stint on the sidelines after a reckless move mid-race at Werribee on Friday.
Riding the $1.70 favourite Certainly Quiet, Neindorf allowed the filly to dramatically shift out at the 600m, making contact with Eoin Walsh’s mount, I’mnodrummerboy, who then made contact with the horse on his outside, Zikron.
Despite the significant contact, there was no fall or injuries reported.

‘’Rider Lachlan Neindorf (Certainly Quiet) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), in that passing the 600m he permitted his mount to shift ground outwards, whilst riding along hands and heels when insufficiently clear of Imnodrummerboy, which was tightened out onto Zikron, which in turn which was tightened out onto Angel Feet, resulting in Zikron and Imnodrummerboy both being checked and losing their rightful running,’’ the Stewards’ report said.
‘’L Neindorf had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of 16 race meetings, with the period to commence Monday the 11th of May 2026, which is at the conclusion of his suspension incurred at Pakenham on 23/04/2026, and to expire on Sunday 24th May 2026.
‘’Accordingly, L Neindorf will be able to return to ride on Monday 25th May 2026. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea and that the incident was in the high-range.’’
