The Launceston Night Racing season continues with an eight-event card at the Ladbrokes Racing Centre on Friday night.
Solid rainfall in Launceston leading into the meeting should ensure the track races worse than the 4-rated surface presented for the first two meetings of the 26/27 season.
The rail comes into the true position after being at +8m last Friday night.
VORTISTAR (3) has an outside gate to overcome but has trialled well for his return. GEEGEES MERCEDES (5) finished just out of the placings last Friday night but has drawn in this time, having to concede a start from a wide gate last week. VERHOEVEN (2) resumes from a spell and will get back but was only narrowly beaten narrowly first up last preparation. GEEGEES ACE (1) has a case stepping out to the 1200m. SUPER SNIPPY (7) would be competitive on best form but needs to improve and might do better with blinkers.
FLUFFY’S GIRL (6) is speedy and should be able to find the lead from barrier one. Early pressure the key to her chances. GEEGEES DOWNPOUR (7) resumes and needs luck from back in the field but has trialled well. DIAMOND INDARUF (5) has a good first up record in Victoria and the stable always has to be respected. WILD NIGHTS (9) has been freshened and has been competitive of late in similar races. STREET DIVA (1) and LAWRENNY BOYS (3) have the talent but both drawn poorly. THE WIZARD KING (4) will improve off the first up run when heavily backed.
ROLAND VIEW (6) was very good last time in a similar strength maiden and 5th from that race Toorak Lad won impressively at his next outing. BEWICKED (9) showed some promise as a 2-year-old and has trialled soundly for her return. ALPINE WHISKEY (1) returns from a spell and looks to be improved on the strength of his 2 trials wins. AWESOME ORPHAN (4) faces a task from the outside gate but is going well for the new stable. SH’BOURNE TOP GUN (8) and CALIFORNIA CROWN (10) the pick of the new-comers.
THICKSKINNED (3) resumed and ran a big race at Devonport in a deep class 3 race and will take a power of beating if turns up in same form. ALPINE FURY (1) had the right run but did stretch out nicely to score here first up and can only improve. COOL HEART (5) has been racing well this campaign without winning and has a good record at Launceston. BELLSPROUT (4) led and dominated at Devonport but harder here and all 3 wins have been on the synthetic.
FUEL ON THE FIRE (1) was beaten by the barrier last week in a similar contest, having to do too much work early to get across. He battled on extremely well and was best of the on-pacers. STOLLAWAY NED (2) could not have been any more impressive winning her maiden at start number 3 but there’s clearly more depth to this race. WOLF JUNIOR (3) in the mix but was given every possible chance last week. SIR WILLIAM (4) had all the favours in front scoring his maiden win and beat a moderate lot. I’M A MACHINE (5) failed to fire resuming but can do better and is six weeks between runs. BELLA CHINKARA (7) has a place chance on best form but was very plain last start.
PRINCE OF KHATUN (3) was scratched last week from a wide gate and has drawn much better here and is the one to beat. SILVER DAGGER (1) a genuine threat resuming but has also accepted at Flemington on Saturday. NIGHT PEOPLE (2) has been a handy performer since arriving in the state and performs well fresh. GO JEANIE (4) another one resuming and beat some well- credentialled horses first up last preparation. GOLDEN MEADOW (7) wouldn’t shock but usually takes a run or two to find her best. STARDARMUS (5) going well but back in trip the query. SEVILLANA (4) and BILLIE THE GREAT (9) next best.
LITTLE EL (5) was just no match in a similar race last time but remains a query at this trip. BAILED (1) stuck on well in the same race after facing the breeze throughout and will appreciate the 2000m. OPENSEA (2) was caught wide last start at Devonport and can improve fourth run back. DA SILVER FLASH (3) needs to find a few lengths but recent form suggests she’ll relish the extra ground. LAST TREMBLE (4) finds it hard to win but can be thereabouts. IRISH BLOOM (6) next best.
EAGLEFURTHER (2) has recent form that is hard to knock which includes three top-2 finishes from her last four starts and the other effort was a complete forgive. THISISMYTURF (5) thoroughly deserved the win last week and rates a great hope again. KIREINA MARUBRAH (6) has turned in several good runs of late in similar company and has a case.AL MAXIMUS (3) was just fair last week but the drop in grade and trip are both positives. NICALBI (4) won an ordinary maiden at Devonport and this looks too tough.
