A couple of Victorian horses are sneaking across the border to Albury on Friday and Matt Welsh is keen to bet.
Race 5 No.10 Hazardous
Liked this filly off her jump-outs prior to debuting at Wodonga and she duly got the job done there as a well-backed faovurite. She drops back in trip but she maps to camp right on speed from a low draw and she brings clearly the strongest ratings of anything in this event. It’s a lovely stepping stone out of maiden grade and with even luck she can be winning again.
Suggested bet: $2.50 Hazardous seems more than fair
Race 6 backing No.3 Snakeunderfoot and No.4 Accolades
This is a handy maiden.
Accolades has trialled up very well for his debut. Soft jump-out win at Wangaratta back on October 7 before cruising to the line under very light riding in a recent trial at Albury, in fast time for the morning. He's going to bounce on speed from gate one, camp just on the back of what looks a genuine tempo, and looks to pounce late.
Snakeunderfoot had absolutely no luck at Echuca on debut - probably wins that with clean air. There was a little bit of late support for him on debut having jumped-out nicely prior. Maps for a lovely trial from a soft gate.
Do like how (7) Prince Of Glam has trialled up for his debut. Worked home well in his most recent outing at Wodonga and think he will be strong late.
(2) Samaka has been well backed having his first start for Paul McVicar having been formerly trained by Peter Snowden. He was turned over as a $1.45 fave in a small field at Newcastle last start, but the second horse has since won. Wide draw no spoil - maps quite awkwardly.
Suggested bet: Backing Snakeunderfoot/Accolades
