The Betsy team take a look at the strongest market moves ahead of a huge day of racing.
Flemington
The best-backed runner of the card is flashy mare She’s An Artist. Early shoppers snapped up $2.70–$2.80 on Wednesday and Thursday, but that price disappeared quickly. She’s now $2 with most outlets and even odds-on in places.
Legacy Bound has been a noted drifter in race two: $3.40 out to $4.60. Punters are siding with the fit horses in Tycoon Star, Devil Night and McGaw. Punters potentially thinking the Robbie Griffiths-trained runner might be vulnerable first up.
In the Exford Plate, Group 1 winner Vinrock has been the subject of confident support. He found the sprint tempo too sharp first-up, but punters expect him to bounce back over 1400m. Early $4.80 was bet, but he’s firmed right into the $3 mark.
There’s also strong interest in Steel Trap (Race 4), having her first start for Tony and Calvin McEvoy. She opened around $15 and is now half that quote. Solid Flemington jump-outs and a form line behind Legacy Bound two starts back have caught punters’ attention.
Adelaide
The best moves have come in Race 3 and Race 9.
-
Snow Mercy (Race 3) has been heavily backed to turn the tables on Intellectual, firming from $5.50 into $2.60.
-
In the ‘get-out stakes’, Beautiful Jewel (Race 9) has been the big push. The Travis Doudle mare has been crunched from $7 into $3.30 (after around 15c of deductions).
Sydney
With a big number of scratchings, Sydney has been quieter on the betting front – but worth keeping an eye on as the day unfolds.
