Billionaire owner and new Melbourne Racing Club Vice Chairman Jonathan Munz made a rare appearance on track to watch his star filly, Getta Good Feeling, claim the Wakeful Stakes.
Munz was seen mixing with racing powerbrokers in the mounting yard throughout the afternoon. Munz’s protégé and MRC CEO Tanya Fullarton, along with former Chairman John Kanga, were also enjoying the afternoon in the mounting yard.
Getta Good Feeling was sent out deep in the red in Saturday’s Wakeful and she didn’t give backers a moment of worry.
Mark Zahra sat as quiet as a church mouse on the filly as they entered the straight, which no doubt pleased those who took the shorts. Once Zahra finally released the shackles, she quickly put her rivals to the sword, winning in decisive fashion.
One to watch for the Crown Oaks 👀

Getta Good Feeling’s trainer, Danny O’Brien, said the filly will now head to Thursday’s Oaks, where she is a $1.90 favourite.
“She’s going to go to the Oaks in great shape. She’s a filly that is big and strong by So You Think. He won a Mackinnon Stakes on this day about 15 years ago and he’s passed away so it is great to see his filly turning up and winning this, and hopefully the Oaks on Thursday.”
Ballarat trainer Thomas Carberry looks to have a very smart staying filly on his hands with Strictly Business, who charged home into second. Incredibly, the filly had broken her maiden over 1400m just eight days earlier, at career start number two. It was a fair training feat to have her back up so quickly, rise sharply in grade, step from 1400m to 2000m, and beat all but the short-priced favourite.
Strictly Business will now press on to Thursday’s Oaks, where she looks likely to appreciate the 2500m. It would be some training effort to get a four start filly to win the Oaks having raced three times in two weeks.
