Jason Collett left Rosehill on Saturday down in the dumps, but Monday’s barrier trials at the same track restored his confidence.
“Dad actually texted me on the way home and said you will be happier now,” Collett said. “It was a great morning. Nothing went right on Saturday but I have a couple for the carnival now.”
One-time Magic Millions favourite Paradoxium was seen for the first time publicly since his Wyong Magic Millions victory, running 53.42 seconds for the 900m heat and 33.61 for the final 600m.
He’s back baby!
Brilliant 1st trial back for Paradoxium (2c Extreme Choice x Paredo)

Collett also got a feel of Unleeshing and Gosford Guineas winner Caffe Florian.
“They are all ready to run well into the carnival,” Collett said. “They have all ticked the boxes they needed too. It was what I want to see this morning.
“Caffe Florian is still learning her craft and those races leading into the Arrowfield Stud Stakes will only help her and Unleeshing is ready for next week.”
Paradoxium was into an $11 chance for the Golden Slipper after the barrier trial, a ridiculous price considering he will have to win the Todman Stakes to get a Slipper run.
“He has been a little behind Warwoven,” Collett said. “We galloped them together last week and Warwoven had the better of him, but the improved [by Paradoxium] was clear to me in the trial.
“You are always worried if they come back from that travel sickness, but he had a good blow out in the trial.
“It’s all systems go for the Todman and that’s where he will prove if he is Golden Slipper horse.
“He felt really good and there is still improvement left in him, which is exciting.”
