Pride Of Jenni’s owner Tony Ottobre is relieved his star didn’t get on the truck to Sydney after she was scratched from Saturday’s King Charles III Stakes because of a leg infection.
Pride Of Jenni remains in Victoria and could work early next week in preparation to defend her Empire Rose Stakes on the first day of the Flemington carnival.
“It is a slight leg infection, but I’m so glad we found it before she left for Sydney,” Ottobre said. “It would have been bad to travel her and have her stand favouring a leg and find out when she got there.
“She is getting treated with antibiotics and topical cream, and the stable is confident she will get over it quickly.
“She could work as soon as Monday.
“It is just so disappointing for us not to have the chance to challenge a great horse in Autumn Glow.
“But we make every decision what is best for Jenni, and that made it an easy decision for all of us.
“She should be back on track for the Empire Rose next week, but we will keep everyone updated with how Jenni is.”
Autumn Glow firmed to $1.33 with TAB after Pride of Jenni was scratched.
