One lucky punter has turned a single dollar into a life-changing $3 million after landing a remarkable 22-leg mystery multi on Cox Plate Day.
The bet, placed through Sportsbet’s new Multi Millionaire product, required the punter to successfully navigate 22 consecutive legs across meetings at Flemington, Randwick, Morphettville and Ascot.
And it all came down to the final race in Perth.
With 21 legs safely in the bank, the punter needed Too Darn Stormy to deliver the final result at Ascot.
When Too Darn Stormy saluted, the $1 ticket was suddenly worth a staggering $3 million. Of course Too Darn Stormy was ridden by none other than Willie Pike: PIkey in the last!
The extraordinary collect was the first major payout for Sportsbet’s recently launched Multi Millionaire product.
Sportsbet Chief Operating Officer Jay Sellick said the result was a remarkable outcome for the winning customer.
“To think that a Sportsbet customer has turned a $1 mystery multi into $3 million on Cox Plate Day. Amazing, that’s what we love to see,” Sellick said.
The bookmaker has confirmed another $3 million prize will be on offer this weekend, while also flagging plans for Melbourne Cup Day.

How does Multi Millionaire work?
Unlike a traditional multi, where punters choose their own selections, Multi Millionaire randomly allocates a combination of outcomes across a predetermined set of racing or sporting events.
In racing, each leg involves the field being split into two groups, Group A and Group B. The bet progresses if the winner comes from the group allocated to the ticket.
Punters pay $1 for a mystery multi, with the major payout awarded when every leg is successful.
Smaller payouts can also be available depending on how many consecutive legs are successful before the first losing selection.
The product is available through the Sportsbet app, with the prize amount and number of legs varying between rounds.
