Race by race overview
Race 1
Very limited ability amongst these.
Just a slight lean to (4) Ten Carat Lucy as she is lightly raced and might be the improver. In the leading stable, Berry rides and has won or placed in all six starts (and they have all been on this track).
Very light weight for (6) Marellity and she has been consistent without being great. This is the preferred trip and shouldn’t be far off the leaders early.
Even though (1) Quarry Man has been running in the bush, has won two on the trot and watch what the market does with him.
Selections:
(4) Ten Carat Lucy
(6) Marellity
(1) Quarry Man
(3) Darth Invader
Suggested Bet: No bet
Race 2
Not the strongest race and just a few chances.
(1) Hello Punters was a 7 start maiden until breaking the duck last start. Beat a good maiden in Cardonette at the coast and will get some confidence out of that win. Nice target and Berry goes on top, that’s what swayed me his way.
(6) Gypsy’s Daughter looks the next best in a thin race now Moroccan Wild is out. Got back but good through line last start after winning on debut. Can be better for that experience.
(3) Switch The Stars is in the Sears camp with Jones riding and is next best.
Selections:
(1) Hello Punters
(6) Gypsy’s Daughter
(3) Switch The Stars
Suggested Bet: No bet
Race 3
Well (1) Agnar got out the back on debut but just kept building home. Best L600-400-200m splits of the race and this track should be ideal. Up to 1200m a plus too.
(9) Sport went over the line with it and has been good late in races. Not far off a win and this looks a good race for him to run over them late.
(5) Watchfulwilderness can be better for the debut run and I can make a case it improves, hard to do that for others.
Paciera coming out race morning has made this even weaker. Hard to find positives.
Selections:
(9) Sport
(1) Agnar
(5) Watchfulwilderness
Suggested Bet: Win (9) Sport
Race 4
I have some trust issues here.
A few of them bumped into each other last start and (2) Lonergy was way too good. Really liked that style of win. Only issue is losing Cormack for the apprentice and gate 10.
The last two runs of (4) Sujeed on this track have been very good. Hasn’t won on this track but has run well many times. Like his chances here.
(10) Luxor Prince some hope in exotics for trifecta players.
Selections:
(4) Sujeed
(2) Lonergy
(10) Luxor Prince
(6) Better Than Words
Suggested Bet: Win (4) Sujeed
Race 5
Very hard to line all this up.
Everything says (1) Don Pedro will need the run and further. The trial was ok and I just feel from gate 1 the apprentice might be able to track up and if a split comes, could give them a fright.
(2) Northumbria was putting gaps in fields for fun at the end of last prep. Don’t think it was beating much but hard to knock winning form.
(8) Red Beauty may have just trained off last prep. Lightly raced with a good record and could be a real threat first up.
(5) Sailor’s Rum has won 2 of 4 at the track and was a nice winner last start. Takes the claim for the winning jock from last start and a genuine winning chance.
Selections:
(1) Don Pedro
(5) Sailor’s Rum
(8) Red Beauty
(2) Northumbria
Suggested Bet: Small win (1) Don Pedro
Race 6
(16) Pride Of Venus has won three of four this prep and hard to find a knock. Just 52kg, rock hard fit and market will like it for sure.
Don’t mind the chances of (13) Belthil who joins the Healy stable. Just fair to plain form down south but the trial up here was very good. Might be one of these that improves sharply in the Qld sun.
Wide draw for (1) Living Free doesn’t help the apprentice out. Three of his last four runs have been more than good enough for this. Not horrible in an Open handicap in town last start.
Hard to find others after scratching’s but (17) Scrub Chain loves this track and 2/2 at the trip.
Selections:
(13) Belthil
(16) Pride Of Venus
(1) Living Free
(17) Scrub Chain
Suggested Bet: Small win (13) Belthil
Race 7
Easy to know why the market has (7) The Inflictor up as fave. The trial to start the prep was good and the run in the G3 in Sydney was excellent. Not far off Private Eye, Mazu etc. Draws well, fitter and hard to hold out late.
(6) Yellow Brick is a big strong bugger who has also trialled very well. Love the booking of Berry and expect this bloke to be right on the speed and give a great kick.
The one with the upside is (9) Boomtown Boss. Draws to get the right run for Jones and has a sharp turn of foot on his day. Could reach a new high this prep and looks a nice race to kick off in.
The top two are rising 9yr olds but have class. (2) Rothfire has been a Qld champ and a win wouldn’t surprise. (1) Here To Shock has been up a while and had travel but don’t want to sell him short.
Selections:
(6) Yellow Brick
(7) The Inflictor
(2) Rothfire
(9) Boomtown Boss
(1) Here To Shock
Suggested Bet: No bet
Race 8
(4) Pulveriser has been very good on heavy tracks recently. The win on a dry track to start the prep was brilliant. Like the fact they opt for the strong senior rider. Can sit wherever they like and could be a good way to finish the day here. Unfortunately it was $11 the other day and opened $6 for the meeting this time.
(2) Smart Action looked great winning three back but the last two just plain. Suitable race this and Maloney rides.
Toppy (1) More Trouble was a huge winner in an easier race last start.
(6) Inca Trail can be on speed for a long way, can be a little weak late in races though.
Selections:
(4) Pulveriser
(2) Smart Action
(1) More Trouble
(6) Inca Trail
Suggested Bet: Win (4) Pulveriser
