Racelab’s Matt Collum has taken a forensic look at the Group 1 races at Royal Ascot using their ratings system to assist working out who’s best credentialed to take out this year’s big races.
Matt has started the week in terrific fashion, nailing three of the four Group 1 races, including Mission Central at 14/1 in the King Charles Stakes.

Decent speed for a staying test over two and a half miles with Carmers and Trawlerman pressing for prominent positions. Scandinavia is searching for a hat-trick after two wins in Ireland over 2816m. This is a big jump in grade and distance so I’m prepared to be against him at 2/1. Trawlerman resumes from a longer break than expected after battling with a rare eye issue. Last year he rated 116 (winning by seven lengths) which was one of the highest ratings recorded in the database. His sustained speed and staying power delivered a dominant victory and a new course record. Knowing what Trawlerman is capable of, I’m happy to be with him at 3/1 on top of the ground. Quite a few of these runners are questionable at the distance.
Suggested Bet: Trawlerman
