Saturday’s racing is headlined by a huge card at Caulfield featuring the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas, Might And Power Stakes and Toorak Handicap, while the Hill Stakes is one of the highlights in Sydney.

Betting on the Guineas, Might and Power and Toorak Handicap has been active for a while now, but on Monday afternoon TAB released several all-in markets for other features races in both states.

Toorak set to be a wide-open affair

There has been good interest in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap, where Sabaj and Evaporate have both been backed from $11 into $8 on Monday afternoon.

The support has seen the pair close the gap on Regal Award, who currently heads the market at $6, but punters haven’t only targeted those near the top of betting.

Von Hauke has been specked at a big price, firming from $26 into $15, adding another significant early move to what shapes as a typically open edition of the Toorak.

The Caulfield Guineas market has a dominant favourite after Warwoven belted his rivals in the Golden Rose. He is currently $2.50 to add the Caulfield Guineas to his Group 1 record, but there has also been good support for the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young-trained Blind Raise, who is now $3.50.

In the Group 1 Might And Power Stakes,Sheza Alibi a prohibitive $1.40 favourite. She has been outstanding this preparation and will be one of the headline acts on Saturday’s Caulfield card.

$15 into $6: Punters launch into Rey Magnerio

Some of the strongest early support has come in the Schillaci Stakes.

Jigsaw did a wonderful job for Cindy Alderson during the summer/autumn, posting Group 1 wins in both New Zealand and Australia. He has trialled nicely ahead of his return and punters have stepped in early, backing him from $4.50 into $3.50.

But the biggest firmer in the race has been Robbie Griffiths’ Rey Magnerio, who has been absolutely smashed in early betting. He opened at $15 and has been crunched all the way into $6, making him one of the most significant market moves across Saturday’s early markets.

There will also be plenty at stake in the Herbert Power Stakes, with a ticket into the Caulfield Cup on the line.

Punters have made an early move for Future History, who has been well found on Monday afternoon, firming sharply from $15 into $8.

Shockletz is the $3.50 favourite for the Herbert Power, ahead of Zakouma, but the money for Future History has been one of the more significant moves in the race.

Lindermann smashed to go back-to-back

Punters have also been active in Sydney, where Lindermann has firmed from $2.50 into $2 to win the Hill Stakes at Rosehill.

Lindermann failed to fire at Caulfield last start, but the market is clearly prepared to forgive that performance as he heads back to Sydney looking to win the Hill Stakes for the second consecutive year.

He defeated Attrition in last year’s edition and the pair could clash again on Saturday, with Attrition currently a well backed $6 second favourite.

There has also been support in the Gloaming Stakes, with Stormy Marco well tried in early betting.

Flemington winners set for mouth-watering rematch

The Roman Consul Stakes is shaping as a mouth-watering battle between two exciting three-year-olds, with punters keen to back both favourites.

Paradoxium has firmed from $3.50 into $2.80, while filly Satono Glow is now $3 after touching $4. Both were impressive winners down the Flemington straight on Makybe Diva Stakes Day and now head north to clash in what shapes as one of the most intriguing races on Saturday’s program.

Punters have also identified two runners in The Nivison, with Gerringong backed from $6 into $4.50 and Arabian Rose attracting support from $11 into $8.

The pair have been the notable early firmers in the mares’ sprint as punters begin to take a position ahead of Saturday’s final fields.
