A perfect draw and a favourable map has Danny O’Brien confident his consistent stayer Sea What I See can finally win again in Saturday’s Listed Port Adelaide Cup at Morphettville.
The imported mare has finished in the top four in her last six starts, including narrow defeats in the Listed Mornington Cup and G3 Easter Cup in recent weeks.
That Mornington performance when fourth behind Kings Valley was the mare’s first try at 2400m and O’Brien believes she’ll be even better over the extended 2500m trip on Saturday.
He’s hoping Craig Williams can give Sea What I See a soft run behind likely leader Sir Kingsford.
“She’s bursting to win a race and we think she can do it on Saturday,” O’Brien said.
“That was her first try at 2400m (in the Mornington Cup), I thought her run was terrific and I think she’ll be better for that.
“More than anything, she just keeps drawing wide barriers at every start and she’s always had to roll across and end up leading the races.
“She’s finally drawn low on Saturday and it would be great if she can just get in behind one and not have to be the leader.
“Certainly we think that’s a much better race pattern for her.”
Sea What I See is the $2 favourite with Bet365.
