Turf Talk:

  • Stony Creek is a tight turning track where it’s generally an advantage to be on speed.
  • Track has come up a Soft 6 on race morning, which is interesting given it hasn’t rained for days. They have reported 34mm for the past week, however. Big wait and see how the meeting plays out.

Key stats:

  • Craig Newitt rides Stony Creek well due to his aggressive style. He’s going at 17% across his career at the track.
  • Apprentice Bailey Kinninmont has taken to the tricky circuit well in his short career having ridden six winners from 28 rides.
  • Jason Warren has a 38.7% strike rate when he takes runners to Stony Creek across a decent sample size.

Race 3

They’ve been very patient with (9) Le Notre in recent days, scratching from a number of races, but the filly resumes here from a good gate. She has had two jump-outs at Cranbourne and gone well in each. Only run to date was leading them up in a handy form race at the Gold Coast back in July last year. 1100m from a good draw fresh looks ideal and this isn’t an overly strong race.

(7) Angelotti will get a nice trails and has the blinkers going on while (8) Anyways finds an easier race than last start.

Suggested bet: $3.20+ about Le Notre on offer looks a terrific price.

Race 4

Few track specialists engaged here! (2) Juice Box should lead from (1) Titan Of Choice. Speed just even for an 1100m contest.

Juice Box is airborne. Quick back-up after winning well at Sale last week. Loves the track and trip and makes her own luck up on speed. Bailey Kinninmont is three-from-three on her back.

Titan Of Choice has had a stable change and suspect Reece Goodwin is going to try and be positive with the old boy. He went forward in his most recent jump-out and went well on speed. Generally speaking he’s wanted a touch further than 1100m but from a good gate with freshness in his legs think he can sprint well here.

(6) Trak Chiller is another who loves Stony Creek. Is going to get back but if it’s a genuine soft deck that’s only a positive. Lethal turn-of-foot, so only needs to be within striking distance at the top of the straight. Jackie Beriman rides her well and she rides Stony Creek quite well too.

Suggested bet: Backing Juice Box. Small save Titan Of Choice. Quinella 1,2,6. Box Tri 1,2,5,6.

Race 5

Not a lot of speed engaged for a 1000m race.

(10) Squazeemoto is very weak late in his races but this is a terrific opportunity for a long overdue win. He has had three runs back from a long spell and each run has had merit. Draws the pole here which should see him easily find the front and with 51kg on his back should prove awfully hard to catch.

(8) Dominant Miss always trials well, which she has again, but she can also produce a decent run fresh. If there is genuine sting out of the track she will only be further advantaged and from gate five she’s going to get a lovely run.

Suggested bets: Few knocks on the faves. Small plays Dominant Miss/Squazeemoto.
