TAB Punters have started to show their hand ahead of Saturday’s racing, with several significant bets landing at Randwick and Sandown.
TAB traders have shared some of the more notable wagers struck ahead of the weekend, headlined by a $10,000 bet at $2.70 on Idle Flyer in Race 7 at Randwick.
That punter stands to collect $27,000 should Idle Flyer get the job done.
Interestingly, there has also been a very different bet struck in the same race.
One punter has outlaid $500 on El Castello at $101, which would return $50,500 if the outsider can cause a major upset.
It makes Race 7 one of the more intriguing betting contests on the Randwick card, with significant wagers landing at opposite ends of the market.
Sandown punters aim up
Despite the indifferent weather forecast, there has also been some confidence around runners at Sandown, including a four-figure bet at a big price.
Almost An Angel (Race 5) has attracted a $1,000 bet at $23, with the punter looking at a $23,000 collect.
In the Group 1 Moir Stakes, Skybird (Race 8) has been well supported by one TAB customer, who has had $2,500 each-way at $15 the win and $4.20 the place.
The other significant Sandown wager has come late on the card, with $5,000 invested on Warnie at $5 in Race 9.
That bet would return $25,000 and provides another indication of where some of the bigger money has landed ahead of Saturday.
