The unexposed

PROVIDENCE – Chris Waller (James McDonald)
August 18 (Canterbury H19 902m) – Solid overall time, but the key was how this colt looked in his first trial back as a 3yo. A slow learner at two who progressed late (4th in the JJ Atkins behind Cool Archie). Profiles as a 1400m-2000m type and has come back well. Likely for a second trial Friday before the Up & Coming Stakes.

AUTUMN BREAK – Kym Davison (Brittany Button)
August 18 (Albury H1 900m) – Only 900m trial of the morning and he looked the part. First official trial as a 5yo; showed strength in front and made stablemate Canny Hell (9th in a Country Championships at Randwick) look second rate. Hard to beat on debut.

SWEET WARRIOR – Dryden & Snowden (Rebecca Prag)
August 22 (Canberra Acton H1 900m) – Sharp return from this 3yo Saxon Warrior filly. Ran down the leader then put 3.5L on them with ease. From the right stable and will be hard to beat wherever she resumes.

MILES OF GLORY – Michael Freedman (Tommy Berry)
August 25 (Hawkesbury H13 800m) – Very smart overall time. Second prep after a sound debut campaign. Strong early speed brought out her late turn of foot and she worked stylishly through the line. Looks back in great order.

YOUNG MISTER GRACE – Brad Widdup (Kerrin McEvoy)
August 25 (Hawkesbury H14 800m) – Fastest time of the morning. This 3yo Anders colt showed ability in his first prep (trialled alongside Gallo Nero). Back from a 15-week spell and looked sharp first-up at the trials. Expect another trial before targeting Stakes company.

ANDALE ANDALE – Lyle Chandler (Jenny Duggan)
August 25 (Scone H3 900m) – Smart overall time, matching the talented Autumn King. Backed up a sharp first trial with an even better second. Ready to head to the races and looks hard to beat wherever she resumes.

RACE TO ARMS – Peter Nestor (Kody Nestor)
August 24 (Narromine H1 800m) – Very sharp 800m trial. Showed good gate speed, cruised under no pressure, then found extra when challenged. Strong through the line – key at the short trip. Likely another trial before kicking off at 1000m.

DASHING DOUBLE – Tommy Wong (Winona Costin)
August 25 (Hawkesbury H9 1000m) – Solid debut chasing home smart type Cheeky Smile when it was hard to run on. After a freshen, she looked switched on in this 1000m trial. Ready to win now.

And the exposed…

KING OF POP – Ryan & Alexiou (Zac Lloyd)
August 18 (Canterbury H2 900m) – Back-to-back smart trials. Strong 2yo form (Black Opal winner; luckless in the Slipper; runner-up in the Kindergarten). Trials this prep have been excellent, particularly the latest when closing with a slick L600m behind tearaway leader Bonita Queen. San Domenico bound this weekend.
