Race 3 – 2:00PM Morwell Bowling Club Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)
Like #6 BELDARI. This daughter of Bel Esprit strikes a very winnable race on debut. She has impressed in several trials. She’s a filly that jumps the gates quite well so I’d expect them to be right on speed from gate three. Has trialled well on heavy going, but of course raceday is different, but if she gets through the going then she should prove awfully hard to beat.
Suggested bet:
Backing #6 BELDARI
Race 4 – 2:35PM WIN Television Gippsland Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)
#1 BOLTING BLUE has trialled up very nicely for this debut. The knock is he has been slow out in both jump-outs, but that’s where the wide draw could actually prove a plus as he musters quickly. It’s often easier for horses that are slow out to muster and get on speed from wider gates as they don’t get boxed away when missing the kick. He won his last jump-out by space, under light riding, and wasn’t stopping on the line, continuing to power away after the post.
Suggested bet:
Backing #1 BOLTING BLUE
Could also play a small all-up/running double on the Griffiths pair – Race 3 No.6 BELDARI into Race 4 No.1 BOLTING BLUE
