Stakes-winning colt Tycoon Star will be put on the ‘Reserve Bank program’ in a bid to capture an elusive Group 1 win that would shore up a career at stud.
Will Hayes reported that the young sprinter is back in work and being aimed at an autumn campaign that could culminate in the G1 Goodwood in Adelaide.
The colt won the Listed Maribyrnong Plate before running third in the G1 Blue Diamond as a two-year-old before returning as a three-year-old in the spring to win the G3 McNeil Stakes.
He was spelled after finishing sixth behind Tentyris in the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes.
“A lot of the horses we have targeted towards Adelaide, including Tycoon Star, are about to start trialing which is exciting,” Hayes said.
“I think Reserve Bank showed what those three-year-olds can do last year and Tycoon Star will be on a similar sort of path if he shows he’s racing well enough.”
“He seems to be a little bit more mature this preparation which I think is a good thing for a colt that can sometimes be a bit above himself.”
Last season, Reserve Bank finished unplaced in the G1 William Reid Stakes as a three-year-old before a clean sweep of South Australia’s sprinting features.
He won the Listed Redelva Stakes and the G2 Tobin Bronze Stakes before defeating older horses in The Goodwood.
Lindsay Park last won The Goodwood in 2017 with Vega Magic.
