Race 7 – Wagga Wagga Gold Cup
The 2026 edition of the Wagga Cup is a cracker, with Chris Waller headlining the race with the top two in the market. I love the barrier here for Travolta, with the race lacking genuine speed, gate 7 should allow Tommy to land close enough to strike.
The stablemate Star Of India comes off three consecutive forgive runs, and I’m convinced he’s flying. Dry deck, inside draw and 2000m looks the right recipe.
Bear On The Loose will look to turn this into a build from the 600m. He’s rock hard fit, has tactical speed and should land at least 4L in front of the top two mentioned above.
Quietness will keep him company on speed, another who peaks and comes off a career-best run last start at Caulfield. Good race.
Selections:
(2) Travolta
(3) Star Of India
(6) Bear On The Loose
(5) Quietness
Suggested Bet: Travolta + Star Of India WIN
Race 8
Keen to back Moor Mumm in the last. Yes, she’s had 34 starts, but since switching to the Dale camp this prep she’s found improvement. She was impressive first up and backed that up down the straight at Flemington.
Ready for 1200m now and should land close enough from the draw. Neeson is the danger, back-to-back smart trials and will land on speed from barrier 3, happy to save.
Sergeant Stan brings strong last start winning form to this event and has to go in the mix. Pleasurize is next best.
Selections:
(16) Moor Mumm
(20) Neeson
(14) Sergeant Stan
(8) Pleasurize
Suggested Bet: Moor Mumm + Neeson WIN
