South Australia could yet have a runner in next month’s $3 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic with Michael Hickmott still considering a trip north with exciting filly, Inhabit.
The daughter of Stay Inside gave several older horses a touch up in a Murray Bridge jump-out on Monday morning, a fortnight after she pulled up with atrial fibrillation after finishing last as the $1.26 favourite in a three-horse race at Morphettville.
Inhabit began her career in style, winning the Moorundi 2YO Classic over 900m in mid-October, rocketing her up the ballot for the lucrative restricted race on the Gold Coast.
Hickmott said a decision on whether she travels interstate will be made in the coming days.
“It’s still under strong consideration,” Hickmott said.
“If she goes, she’d fly from Melbourne on the 30th and run in the Pearl on the 10th.”
“Giving her one run right handed (before that 2YO Classic) would do her the world of good.”
“She was pretty impressive this morning and when they have a-fib (atrial fibrillation), sometimes you just have to shut your eyes and pretend that the other day didn’t happen.”
“The good horse of John O’Shea’s at the moment, Yorkshire, is a good example because he had it first up and then has won his next two.”
Hickmott, who has been active at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in recent years, will definitely have representation on the track, with Cash already en route to Queensland.
The $250,000 Magic Millions Rising Stars 3YO & 4YO Plate over 1300m will be his initial aim.
The gelded son of Snitzel defied the pattern first-up at Gawler when flashing late to just miss over 1200m.
“Cash is already on his way up to Sydney,” he said.
“The plan with him is that he’ll trial on either the 30th at Randwick or the 2nd at Rosehill and then he runs on the 10th and hopefully the 17th as well.”
“He’ll run in the Rising Stars and then depending on how he runs in that, he could go to the Class 6 or the Cup.”
