Kembla Grange trainer Paul Murray is calling Saturday’s Inglis Millennium, Where’s The Circus’ Golden Slipper.
The $1250 Inglis Digital purchase has already taken down million-dollar rivals in the Inglis Nursery, but Randwick will be a last start before a spell.
“She wasn’t supposed to be in this race,” Murray said. “We were going to spell after the Nursery, but she had 10 days in the paddock and did everything right.”
”You don’t get many chances to run for $2 million, so we are going to have a crack.”
Michelle Ritchie, Murray’s partner, is the majority owner in Where’s The Circus and after some discussion, she decided to relent and run.
“She is the boss and is very big on giving horses time,” Murray said. “But what she did on debut was pretty good, and if she does it again she will be competitive.”
“Michelle doesn’t like racing them as a two-year-old and is no rush with her and wants to give her time to be a horse.”
“There is no Golden Slipper or autumn for her after Saturday, this is her Golden Slipper.”
“She will be in a paddock come Monday.”
While Where’s The Circus has done everything right, there have been dramas around her with jockey Jean Van Overmeire to miss Saturday with a broken foot.
“He broke it on Christmas Eve on a motorbike and we have been hoping he would be right to ride her,” Murray said. “We have got Jay Ford instead, and he has a couple of gallops on her now and is very happy.”
“We are going to the races hoping with her because we know she is only going to get better.”
“It would be a dream to win, but just being there in this race is unbelievable.”
