Bjorn Baker will look to complete another great season with Within The Law in the Tatt’s Tiara at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Fresh from Royal Ascot, where Overpass was third in the King Charles III Stakes, Baker turned his attention to the next goal with Within The Law.
The Lucky Vega filly is a two-time Group 1 runner-up from the Champagne Stakes as a two-year-old and Flight Stakes this season and is working toward $2 million in prizemoney.
“To get a Group 1 is important for her. She has been close twice and a win really adds to her value,” Baker said.
The trainer is looking for a fourth Group 1 this season after Pericles’ Futurity win, Caballus in the Newmarket and Green Spaces in the Australian Derby as he closes on 1500 career victories, only being a dozen wins away.
“It has been a good season and Within The Law is capable of topping it off,” Baker said.
“She has been a very good filly and to get that Group 1 win for her would a great way to finish the season.”
“She is probably a bit better on top of the ground and just didn’t let down as well last time on the wet track.”
“It is a good time for her to take on the older mares and if it is a hard-run 1400m she will be getting home.”
Since being in Brisbane, Within The Law has come from last to run third in the Fred Best Quality before being unable to match Skyhook in the Gunsynd Classic.
“She is running good races and in good form, so it is worth giving her another crack at a Group 1 now,” Baker said. “Tommy Berry will ride again and he has got to know her in the runs up there.”
Within The Law is a $11 chance in an open final Group 1 of the season, where Gerringong and Splash Back share favouritism at $5.
