Tony McEvoy left Caulfield deflated, as many punters, after Yellow Jersey’s failure as the Heatherlie Stakes favourite on Saturday, but “can’t find anything” wrong with the import.
The sticky surface and Caulfield itself might have played a role in jockey Mark Zahra saying Yellow Jersey lost his action.
McEvoy said the preparation will continue away from Caulfield.
“I have to say I was very disappointed leaving the track,” McEvoy said.
“We have been over him and can’t find anything wrong with him.
“We might just have to put it down to experience.
“It was like an old Caulfield run, where he didn’t handle the track. He is much better than that.
“He just didn’t release when it was time to go. I don’t know if that was the ground or the track itself.
“I would like to get him to Flemington and give him a chance there before giving up on him.”
