Race 6 – 8:15PM Ladbrokes Future Stars Series Heat 5 (1200 METRES)
Speed probably comes form#2 BLACK COAL and #9 MAHRAJAN.
Ultimately, MAHRAJAN should be able to use the inside alley to kick up and lead for Celine Gaudray. This fille has impressed in a number of jump-outs, showing speed in most, rarely being tested. She’s clearly taken a bit of time to get to the track, but on the back of two jump-outs in January looks ready to rock. The key here is she will likely have a significant tactical edge on her main rival, #8 KIPPIS, who isn’t the best beginner. She looks set to make a big debut and I’d expect her to tighten up notably form the current quote.
They have gone for Jamie Melham on KIPPIS, which is a plus. Melham is very good at getting horses to settle handier than they otherwise might. She’s a quality filly with a turn of foot, but she’s dicey at the start and just not sure Cranbourne is her track. Can absolutely win, btu the $1.60 looks poisonous.
BLACK COAL has been disappointing on the track but don’t mind him coming back in distance with the shades on – he can run a race.
Wouldn’t be a total shock if #1 AMONG THE TREES ran into a hole at a big price. Looks to have come back well, has a quality jock up and can use the low draw.
Suggested bet:
I have #9 MAHRAJAN much shorter in my market so have to take the $3.50 + on offer. Can see her starting close to favourite here.
