Summary of Best Bets:

Race 6 No.2 Mystic Reign – Has speed and is well set up over this short sprint

Race 7 No.1 Mr Assertive – Too good in his last start, this rates similar and he goes well at 1200m

Turf Talk:

  • The track looks likely to be a Good 4 rating at least to kick off the meeting but there is the potential we get to a Good 3 at some stage as it has in the previous two meetings here
  • The rail will be +6m the entire circuit as it was at the previous meeting
  • Advantage usually sits with runners who settle in the front half of the field in running here and expect that to be the case today with this rail set up

Stats that matter:

  • Always keep an eye on when Clint McDonald brings a runner here to Cranbourne. His runners have had a super record at this track winning 21% of the time at a POT of +23.7%
  • Ryan Houston has been positive for punters to follow in his last 100 starts but also boasts a strong record here with a winning strike rate of 18.4% at a POT of +57.5%

Race by race overview

Race 6:

MYSTIC REIGN is at peak fitness now 3rd up into this prep and appears to get a better set up than last start dropping back in grade but also down to a distance that she has previously had good success over. She has the speed to be in a forward position here and appears to get every chance in this ideal set up.

Selections:
(2) Mystic Reign
(4) Honor Galore
(1) Jennyanydots
(6) Soju

Suggested Bet: (2) Mystic Reign (Win)

Race 7:

MR ASSERTIVE was a strong winner last start at Geelong when he easily accounted for rivals by close to 3L. He looks suited at this track as he is expected to lead in this field and rising up in distance should prove no challenge as he hasn’t missed the top 3 in 4 runs over the 1200m.

Selections:
(1) Mr Assertive
(12) Blue Hawaiian
(9) Bold Response
(10) Escarpa

Suggested Bet: (1) Mr Assertive (Win)
