Track is currently a Soft 6 but could improve to a Good 4 with fine weather forecast.
We’re siding with Sea Of Lights (#11) first-up for the Will Clarken yard. Previously with Tony & Calvin McEvoy, she has always shown her best form over longer trips, but two sharp trials this prep suggest she can make an impact fresh.

4/8 (850m trial): Jumped to the front, travelled strongly, went to the line under a tight hold.

21/8 (1000m trial): Settled just off the speed, cruised through untested in one of the faster heats of the morning.
Clarken has an excellent record with new stable acquisitions, and while she’ll improve once out in trip, the current $12 quote makes her an appealing bet first-up.
The dangers:

Kalasec (#3): The clear favourite after storming home late fresh. Fitter second-up and maps for a soft run.

Hallstatt (#1): Solid last start and can be competitive again with luck from the inside gate.
Outside of those, the race looks very open.
