Friday night thoroughbred racing continues in Launceston with eight races on the card.

The rail is at +7m after being at +4m for the program a week ago. The track is likely to be in the 4-5 range with fine weather forecast.

R1 Thoroughbred Racing Good Friday 3yo Maiden, 1400m

Every runner comes through the Dizz Boogie Time race from March 13 and a case can be made for a few of them. The runner-up WALKING STREET (3) made a stack of ground from last after being slowly away and is ready to win. KHALEESI’S DREAM (5) finished less than a length behind him and should’ve finished closer after being held up at a key stage. Their efforts were on a par. SYMPHONY QUEEN (6) debuted well making good late ground. DENNYSON (1) had good support but over‑did it in front and compounded. He’s gets a host of gear changes. LUCKY COUNTRY (2) and BASSEIN (4) would need to improve.

Staking Strategy: Khaleesi’s Dream looks suited out to the 1400m and didn’t have a lot of luck last start. 2 units to win KHALEESI’S DREAM (5).

R2 Good Friday Family Fun Day Maiden, 1400m

I’M A MACHINE (1) was good resuming and now gets out to a more suitable trip. CLIMBEVERYMOUNTAIN (5) comes through a maiden that has already produced a couple of winners and looks hard to beat second run back. ARIANNA’S GOLD (4) gets some gear changes after having every chance last time as a short-priced favourite. TEAM HEIST (7) was beaten a long way  last time but the run prior had merit.

Staking Strategy: Liked the return run of I’m A Machine and this looks a perfect race for him second up. 2 units to win I’M A MACHINE (1).

R3 Ladbrokes Hosted Pots Maiden, 1200m

KNIGHTS REIGN (1) returns with blinkers off and without any public trials. Last preparation resuming he finished 10 of 11 starters but was only beaten 2.23l and had no favours in the run.   NUNKERI (9) found them a bit too sharp at Devonport when resuming but her effort was sound and extra trip suits. STRATOVISION (10) has drawn perfectly and trialled like she could be an improver. COLLEEN’S CROWN (4) finished just out of the placings at Launceston against similar opposition. FAVOURITE DEPUTY (2) wasn’t far away at both runs first preparation and has trialled well for his return.

Staking Strategy: Hard to find a standout but Knights Reign had nothing go right first up last prep and looks slightly over the odds. 1 unit to win KNIGHTS REIGN (1).

R4 Ladbrokes Big Bets Copy Now Class 1 Handicap, 1200m

GEEGEES DOWNPOUR (7) couldn’t be going any better but where he gets to in the run is the slight query. SUPER SNIPPY (8) ran well behind a smart winner last time and from the good gate will be hard to hold out. TAROONA (5) did enough first up at Hobart in a race that has produced plenty of winning form. IN YOUR DREAMS (2) comes off a nice maiden win here on Cup Day and might go on with it. VORTISTAR (6) failed badly at the mile last start but is capable of sprinting well fresh. HIGHLAND DUEL (1) resumes and has his share of ability but looks to be up against it from the wide gate.

Staking Strategy: Geegees Downpour brings the best recent form and with even luck it’s hard to see him not running top 3. 3 units each-way GEEGEES DOWNPOUR (7)

R5 Trac M Constructions class 3 Handicap, 1200m

ANTHEIA (5) was outclassed in the Vamos but was far from disgraced and will find this more to her liking. OBVIOUSLY GOOD (1) recorded back-to-back wins this track and trip prior to failing at 1400m. NOVALARGO (2) can do better than last time when a beaten favourite and gets visors on for the first time. GEEGEEHAILSTORM (6) keeps racing well and deserves a change of luck. SIMPLY DEEP (3) hit the line with purpose last time after settling at the rear. He has been a risky beginner of late and that has been a clear negative for him all preparation. NGAPALI BEACH (4) returns from a break and is usually thereabouts fresh. Was winless last time in but every run was good.

Staking Strategy: The favourite Antheia looks well placed and will be tough to beat but is short enough. Geegeeshailstorm has been running well in similar races and is holding her form. 1 units to win GEEGEEHAILSTORM (6).

R6 Good Friday Seafood Buffet Book Now Class 1 Handicap, 1400m

THEM’S THE BREAKS (9) brings strong recent form but repeatedly concedes a start which has often proved costly. ILOVETHISTOWN (4) won his maiden well here three back, has since been beaten as favourite twice, and may appreciate the step up to 1400m now. WHO’S IN DEV (6) continues to race well but did have every possible chance last start. RIPPINGTON (1) strolled home to win his maiden at Devonport by 5 lengths and the runner up has since franked the form. The query is whether he can replicate that synthetic form on the grass. WINDARA WOLF (2) and WOOLCLASSER (3) are last start winners too and this isn’t significantly tougher.

Staking Strategy: Them’s The Breaks hasn’t been far away every run this preparation, should be thereabouts again. 1 unit to win THEM’S THE BREAKS (9).

R7 Easter Egg Giveaways Good Friday Bm68 Handicap, 2000m

SPRING BEAN (1) has been thriving since returning to Benchmark racing including wins at his past two. Was far too good last time despite the big weight and having to cover ground.  TIDEFORD (6 is fit and firing and right in the zone at present.  MONTEZULU (4) is proven at the trip and gets nice weight relief. NIGHT INVADER (2) settled at the rear in the St Leger and made late ground but was never going to win. Has the ability but needs tempo to suit. LINDRUM (7) maps well but does need to lift.

Staking Strategy: Montezulu looks well placed here and is proven at the trip and drops significantly in weight. 3 units to win MONTEZULU (4).

R8 Free Entertainment For The Kids Good Friday Bm68 Handicap, 1400m

HARTMAN (4) led and dictated terms at Devonport and will look to take control again. HURRICANE KETUT (6) needs to improve but am wary third run back and with nice weight relief. MAKE A DECISION (2) is regularly around the mark but all seven wins are at 1200m or less. Can’t entirely be ruled out but just the two placings from eight tries in this distance range. SISTER ROYAL (5) looked to be in need of the outing first up and has a case on best form. TURK BOY (3) is getting fitter and looks a likely improver out to the 1400m. ROMARY (1) didn’t fire last prep and has changed stables but should need this run.

Staking Strategy: Hurricane Ketut has had some early support and should be ready to fire third run back. 1 unit to win HURRICANE KETUT (6).
