Summary of Best Bets

  • Best Bet: Race 3 – (6) Mystic Wonder
  • Next Best: Race 8 – (2) Bouncing Beyond
  • Value Bet: Race 1 – (12) Juxtapose
  • Best Roughie: Race 9 – (5) Thebigsosso

Turf Talk

  • Clear conditions are forecast leading into Saturday, with the track currently rated a Soft and expected to start around an ideal Soft 5.
  • The rail will be in the true position.
  • The Parks track can favour runners settling on speed, while if the surface dries out it may also suit those closer to the rail in the straight.

Stats that matter

  • Shayne and Chelsea Cahill’s stable is in super form, with 15 wins from their past 100 starters and a POT of +12.3%. Their stable also has a POT of +49.4% on the Parks track.
  • Jacob Opperman rode three winners last weekend and has now ridden 21 winners from his past 100 rides at a POT of +15.4%.

Race by race overview

Race 1

(12) Juxtapose was slick to the line at Oakbank last start when running the fastest last 400m of the entire meeting. She now looks ideally set up rising to 1250m third up into the prep, while barrier 3 should allow her to land in a good position in running.

(6) Torpedoes has been racing well without a breakthrough win, finishing second at his past three starts. He has good early speed and looks likely to lead from barrier 2, which may suit at this track.

(9) Brand Her Bold was doing her best work late at Oakbank but struggled to reel in the leaders there. She may be better suited at this track and can improve rising in distance.

(11) Forever A Diamond showed good speed when resuming and running into 2nd, she is fitter now and maps again to be forwards which should suit at this track

Selections:
(12) Juxtapose
(6) Torpedoes
(9) Brand Her Bold
(11) Forever A Diamond

Suggested Bet: (12) Juxtapose each-way

Race 2

(9) It’sanotherbattle perhaps disappointed last start when sent out a short-priced favourite at Oakbank. Her other runs have been impressive, so I am happy to suggest she did not handle the Oakbank track and can improve here. She is quick, which likely suits this circuit.

(2) Golden Horizon resumes and performed well in stronger races last prep, so this looks a suitable kick-off point. His recent trial was also impressive and he can fire fresh.

(1) Captain Harry went to the paddock after winning two in a row, including a race of similar level. His recent trial was sharp, so he looks likely to return in good order.

(7) Golden Tunes broke through for a maiden win at Port Lincoln last start. This is harder and he needs to step up, but he can race forward, which will suit, and with a light weight he could take catching.

Selections:
(9) It’sanotherbattle
(2) Golden Horizon
(1) Captain Harry
(7) Golden Tunes

Suggested Bet: No bet

Race 3

(6) Mystic Wonder looks well set up here dropping in grade from the past three runs she has contested this prep. She has been racing well in stronger company, so this looks a very suitable assignment. From barrier 1 she should land in a forward position, which will suit.

(3) Texan Windstorm is also down in grade from his previous two runs, can race on speed and has won at this distance before. This setup gives him every chance to improve on recent form.

(9) Vaniteux has been racing consistently in similar-level races and has not missed the top two in her past five starts. She stays light at the weights and maps well again.

(10) Smother ran a close third first up last start and remains in a similar setup over a track and distance where he has been consistent before. He can go close again fitter.

Selections:
(6) Mystic Wonder
(3) Texan Windstorm
(9) Vaniteux
(10) Smother

Suggested Bet: (6) Mystic Wonder win

Race 4

(10) Vanlee debuts for a new stable here. Her NSW form was in stronger races, so this looks an ideal kick-off point, while her recent Morphettville trial behind handy types suggested she can fire fresh.

(5) Wiltshire Square has run third at her past two starts at this track, with both races won by talented gallopers in Signature Scent and Mathematician. Those look strong form references and this appears easier.

(1) Silver Lifestyle has rated highly at his past two runs and is in career-best form. The drop in trip could make this race a little sharp, but barrier 2 should allow him to settle in a good position.

(6) Heaven Rocks races well fresh and has had a gap between runs since a strong third in a race that has already produced good form. He can threaten if he does not race greenly.

Selections:
(10) Vanlee
(5) Wiltshire Square
(1) Silver Lifestyle
(6) Heaven Rocks

Suggested Bet: No bet

Race 5

(8) From The Block resumes here after racing well in stronger company last prep. He looks suited in this grade and, off a recent trial win, appears capable of a sharp fresh performance.

(9) In Love comes into this race in career-best form. To be winning she does need to handle the rise in grade, but she has speed, a low draw and a light weight. If the track is favouring on-speed runners, she could prove hard to catch.

(2) Declared has mixed his form this prep, but his best would be good enough to win. Dropping back to 1000m looks likely to suit given his strong record at the trip.

(1) Enuff Seduction had excuses last start and his earlier form this prep was much better in stronger races. Despite a big weight, he can perform well in a setup that suits over this track and distance.

Selections:
(8) From The Block
(9) In Love
(2) Declared
(1) Enuff Seduction

Suggested Bet: No bet

Race 6

(7) Burning Bright has a superb record at this track and distance and appears to get a very suitable setup. She can race on speed, and with a 1.5kg claim she comes in light at the weights and may prove tough to run down.

(5) Oxford Blue has improved sharply across his past two starts as the distances have increased, including a close second in the Onkaparinga Cup. He sets up well again and meets key rivals lighter in the weights.

(1) Sir Kingsford is yet to find his best form this prep but gets a suitable setup now. He has a good record at this track and has only missed the top three once from seven previous fourth-up runs. He is at peak fitness and can improve.

(4) Kirkliston Blu comes into this race fresh after contesting the Adelaide Cup. This is a much easier assignment and, while he is back sharply in trip, he has been in career-best form.

Selections:
(7) Burning Bright
(5) Oxford Blue
(1) Sir Kingsford
(4) Kirkliston Blu

Suggested Bet: No bet

Race 7

This looks a very open edition of the Nitschke Stakes. The edge goes to (5) Rohesia, who comes into this off the back of a strong Ballarat win, relished the rise to 1400m and maps well from barrier 3.

(6) Exit was an eye-catching winner at Flemington, showing a sharp turn of foot to put the race away late. If she can reproduce that figure, she could be hard to hold out, especially if there is some moisture in the track.

(1) Kalmana is at peak fitness third up and has been running well this prep, finishing within a length of the winner in both starts. He maps as the likely leader from barrier 1 and can give a sight.

(9) Yellowjacket ran well to place first up, is fitter now and should appreciate rising in trip.

Selections:
(5) Rohesia
(6) Exit
(1) Kalmana
(9) Yellowjacket

Suggested Bet: No bet

Race 8

(2) Bouncing Beyond was always going to face a tough task at Oakbank when drawn wide, but he was good through the line despite that run. He should strip fitter second up and, in a race that may map awkwardly for others, he looks set to settle in a much better spot here.

(1) Attain debuts for a new stable and comes into this with four placings in a row. He may even find this easier than last start, though things do need to go right early from the wide draw.

(9) Wild Rush was well supported last start and may have had excuses in the run despite being disappointing. He backs up quickly here and can bounce back with better luck.

(14) Portarlington is a two-year-old resuming against older horses. It is a tricky challenge, but his two runs last prep rated well and he may measure up.

Selections:
(2) Bouncing Beyond
(1) Attain
(9) Wild Rush
(14) Portarlington

Suggested Bet: (2) Bouncing Beyond win

Race 9

Luke O’Connor’s stable has been in super form, and resuming galloper (5) Thebigsosso looks likely to put in a strong fresh performance. He is generally consistent first up and his two recent trials have been very good, suggesting he returns in nice order.

(6) I Am Velvet finished well back at Caulfield when resuming but had excuses from a wide barrier. Dropping in grade and fitter second up, a much-improved run is expected.

(9) Clarence was hitting the line strongly at Oakbank and now looks suited rising in trip. From barrier 1 he may land in a forward position and enjoy a soft run.

(3) Metrical resumes down in grade from where he ended last prep and has a solid first-up record. He can fire fresh in this setup.

Selections:
(5) Thebigsosso
(6) I Am Velvet
(9) Clarence
(3) Metrical

Suggested Bet: (5) Thebigsosso each-way

Race 10

(8) Nicish is at peak fitness now fourth up this prep. She is a mare who takes time to find her best form, but her record at this stage of a preparation is excellent. She looks ready to peak and should be charging home.

(4) Jilladora is a consistent mare who is also at peak fitness. She has a good record in these conditions and at this distance, so another bold run is expected.

(9) Synchro looks a key speed influence. He will need to cross from the wide gate, but if he can find the front without spending too much, he could prove hard to reel in.

(5) Starts Now resumes down in grade from last prep and, while he has not won first up before, he looked in good order winning a recent trial.

Selections:
(8) Nicish
(4) Jilladora
(9) Synchro
(5) Starts Now

Suggested Bet: No bet
