The beaten jockeys shared their thoughts after Mark Walker-trained Geegees Mistruth stormed home to win the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes
Beaten Jockeys:
Jamie Melham (Mating Call, 2nd): “She was fantastic. She’s still not just the furnished product yet, she just overdid it a touch the whole way. Still a great effort, just still got a bit to learn.”
Craig Williams (Paltrow Miss, 3rd): “Her performance was excellent, it’s only her fourth career race start, she’s still doing things wrong, she’s group one placed, there’s a lot more upside, if she pulls up well even this season.”
Billy Egan (Getta Good Feeling, 4th): “She had a lovely run, relaxed throughout, when we got out I thought she might’ve pinged a little bit better than we did but it was still a really good, honest run at group one company so there’s more to come.”
Ben Allen (Salty Pearl, 5th): “She’s run as good as she could, felt it was a poorly run race, went from a good spot to a bad spot, just didn’t get to see the best of her today.”
Ben Melham (Savitri, 6th): “Nice filly, just raced a little bit flat I thought today.”
Lachlan Neindorf (Kazaru, 7th): “She’s run as good as she could, wanted to be on the back of two horses pre-race, either Mating Call or Panova, we lobbed on the back of Mating Call who just had a better turn of foot than us from the 400m through to the line but she maintained her gallop well.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Stung, 8th): “She actually ran well. We chanced our arm a little bit by trying to go forward from that gate, ended up no cover but she ran well off the back of that last start to suggest that that’s her ground.”
Daniel Stackhouse (Cushioned, 9th): “She was okay, just don’t think she has that class at 2000m, she’ll be looking for the 2500m in two weeks’ time.”
Taylor Johnstone (Freedom Flame, 10th): “Got a really nice run in transit, probably travelled a bit keen in the run, just wanted to settle that fraction more, come to the corner just had to bide my time and wait for a bit of luck, she was a little bit plain to the line but ran well.”
Teagan Voorham (Oui Oui Ma Cherie, 11th): “She ran an honest race, got shuffled a bit further back than was planned early but was following the right horses into it. Stuck in the middle of a few, unable to make the run when I really wanted but very honest.”
Kayla Crowther (Synthesise, 12th): “I was really happy with her, I got into a nice spot, I was around the right horses, she travelled really nicely throughout and finished off well.”
John Allen (Strictly Business, 13th): “Didn’t have the smoothest of runs, she was running on and going to run okay but she got knocked down at the 300, probably prevented her from running fifth or sixth.”
Harry Coffey (Just Kick, 14th): “Actually ran okay late, got left behind when they sprinted off a funny run race, might be better suited to the further race in a couple of weeks.”
Alana Kelly (Naraghi, 15th): “She put herself in a great spot, just wanted to overdo it a little bit throughout but she stuck it out really well.”
Ace Lawson-Carroll (Bona Sforza, last): “Got back early. I thought I had the back of James McDonald but had another horse come up the inside and flush us four wid
