Extragalactic had little luck last start, forced to drift back from a wide draw in a slowly run race before charging home strongly behind Tycoon Star. Her effort in the Tobin Bronze was particularly impressive, producing the fastest closing sectionals from the 800m to the line. With the track expected to rate a Soft 5, conditions look ideal given she has already proven herself on that surface. She maps perfectly from barrier 6 and, under the weight scale, drops 5.5kg as a three-year-old filly. If she can secure the right run and find clear ground late, she looks the one to beat.

In The Lab | Hollindale Stakes | Group 2 WFA Gold Coast 1800m
There’s no doubt Pride Of Jenni will roll along at a strong tempo, which should ensure this is run to suit. I’m confident the Australian Cup form is the strongest guide here. Birdman was heavily supported in the market last start and looked to peak on that run. He’s since been freshened up and given a quiet trial to maintain his fitness. The booking of the in-form James McDonald is another positive. On ratings, two of his past three runs are strong enough to see him winning this.

In The Lab | Proud Miss Stakes | Group 3 SW+P Morphettville 1200m
Aviatress looks extremely well placed under the conditions of this race. Rated 103, she is only giving most of this field 1.5kg, which makes her very well treated at the weights. She has previously rated above the JTD benchmark on three occasions and typically produces her best performances when fresh. Her recent trial at Balaklava was encouraging, where she moved nicely, and the Jolly stable are pleased with how she has come up. She maps ideally from barrier 8, the 1200m looks her perfect trip, and she shapes as the one to beat. At $4.80, she looks well worth a play.
