Popular, young jockey Campbell Rawiller faces a stint on the sidelines after copping two suspensions in the same meeting for the same offence.
Rawiller copped a combined 17 meeting ban on Tuesday at Horsham for beaching racing’s whip rules.
He used it 5 more times than he was allowed before the 100m in race 3, and four times in race 7.
His horse, Spike Almighty, won race 3 by .75 of a length where his first offence occurred and according to Stewards, Rawiller pleaded guilty to the charges.
”Campbell Rawiller (Spike Almighty) pleaded guilty … that he used his whip five times more than permitted prior to the 100m,’’ the Stewards’ report said.
‘’Campbell Rawiller had his licence to ride in races suspended for 10 race meetings, with the period to commence on Monday 25 May 2026 and expire on Tuesday 2 June 2026.”
‘’Accordingly, Campbell Rawiller will be able to return to ride on Wednesday 3 June 2026. Campbell Rawiller was also fined $500. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record, totality of his whip use and the fact that his mount won the race.’’
It was a similar tale in race 7 where his horse, Cool The Jets, finished second.
‘’Campbell Rawiller pleaded guilty … in that he used his whip four times more than permitted prior to the 100m.”
‘’Campbell Rawiller had his licence to ride in races suspended for 7 race meetings, with the period to commence on Wednesday 3 June 2026, at the conclusion of the suspension incurred in Race 3, and to expire on Tuesday 9 June 2026.”
‘’Accordingly, Campbell Rawiller will be able to return to ride on Wednesday 10 June 2026. Campbell Rawiller was also fined $200. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record, totality of his whip use and the fact that his mount placed 2nd.’’
