Take Us On: Beirne and Bet Legends again keen to lay two popular favourites

Bet Legends’ Shaun Beirne is back with another edition of Take Us On, identifying two runners he believes are under the odds this Saturday and highlighting where the value lies instead.

Rather than taking the favourites head-on in the win market, Beirne has found a pair of safer plays in the Top 2 market at attractive prices.

Doomben Race 6: John Rambo

John Rambo has been well found in early markets, but Beirne isn’t convinced the gelding deserves favouritism.

“His first two runs this preparation have both rated around five lengths below his best, albeit with a few excuses.”

Even allowing for natural improvement, Beirne still struggles to have him as short as the market does.

“If I bring him back to within a length of his peak ratings from last preparation, I still can’t make him shorter than $4. Even that’s assuming a significant step forward.”

Instead, he believes there are two runners offering better betting value.

“North Pole and Robrick are the clear value runners in the race.”

Take Us On Bet: John Rambo Top 2 @ $2.50 (subject to change)

Flemington Race 9: Next Stop Iowa

Beirne is also happy to oppose Next Stop Iowa, who he believes has been installed as favourite more on reputation than ratings.

“He maps okay, but so do the other main chances. I think Next Stop Iowa is a false favourite.”

With blinkers going on for the first time, Street Artist has the profile of a horse capable of finding improvement, while two others also rate highly.

“Street Artist has the ratings and gets blinkers first time. Landmark and Prima Bella are right there as well.”

Take Us On Bet: Next Stop Iowa Top 2 @ $3.50 (subject to change)
