Godolphin have picked smart filly Tempted as its Everest representative, booking two-time Everest winner Craig Williams to ride her in the $20 million sprint at Randwick on October 18.
It will mean that trainer Ciaron Maher and Williams will look to combine for a second consecutive Everest after winning it with Bella Nipotina last year.
The daughter of Street Boss has a perfect record over the Randwick 1200m, when under the care of James Cummings, beating Golden Slipper winner Marhoona in the Reisling Stakes before taking out the Percy Sykes Stakes at The Championships.
She was dynamic in winning the Run To The Rose to start her spring, at her first start for the Maher stable, before running into third behind Beiwacht in the Golden Rose.
The decision to go with Tempted means prized colt Beiwacht will chase further Group 1 success in the Coolmore Stud Stakes down the Flemington straight in November.
She will only have to carry 51kg in the Everest and is a $17 outsider.
Meanwhile, the last of the general admission tickets have been sold, meaning the Everest will be run in front of a full house again.
The only way to get into the Everest is through an ATC membership with the club running a promotion to waive the $500 joining fee with the code word EVEREST.
